My introduction to AS Level Media Studies

Hi, I’m Yeshfa and this is my blog. I’m currently studying AS level Media Studied as I’ve always been interested in learning about social media and how it’s used. Back in 2020, I created an account on YouTube where I would make and post edits of music artists, where I continued to create edits until around the end of 2024. I’d say this was my first real interest into media, as I enjoyed working on these projects in my free time. Also, I’d say watching films was a big part of my love for media studies, as I’ve always liked watching sci-fi and action movies. For example, my favourite movie is Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift, which I really enjoyed because it has some of my favourite cars, and it kept me engaged with all the action. The way it kept the audience entertained really made me think about the uses of different media techniques, and how they can influence and effect our feelings. This, combined with the skills I gained from my experience with my social media accounts like YouTube, led to the first steps towards my understanding of media. Thanks to this, I have always been interested in learning about all the ways in which different types of media can influence every aspect of the world we live in today, and I hope that I develop this knowledge as i continue to study media in my lectures.
